It’s scary that your body is attacking itself.
That’s what autoimmune disease is – sometimes, problems with your immune system cause it to mistake your body’s own healthy cells as invaders and then repeatedly attacks them.
One of the main causes of autoimmune disease is inflammation in the body.
Once we decrease the inflammation, you start to feel better – have more energy, less pain, less symptoms in general, depending on your disorder.
These disorders can affect any part of your body, at almost any given time. I was misdiagnosed the first time in 2005, and the treatments prescribed then were not helping, which is how I knew something else was going on.
Once I got an official diagnosis and started with a treatment plan, things started to turn around.
Symptoms can also come and go, depending on your diet, levels of stress, and how much self-care you are getting.
